Hi there! My name is Kara, and I'm the founding president of Pins and Needles Felting. (Okay, it's just me here—but doesn't that make me the founding president?)
I'm an artist, a writer, a student, a Christian, and a Texas girl at heart. Needle felting is my craft. Sharing it with you in a fun, personal business environment is my mission!
Where it all started: At the Padre Island Christmas Market of 2022, Pins and Needles began its noble work of sharing little wool sculptures with the world. From there the business expanded to custom orders. Those orders came from family, friends of family, new acquaintances, and friends and family of new acquaintances.
After almost a year and a half of doing commission work, it was time for the next step forward. And that next step was—you guessed it—the website! I'm thrilled that P&N has come this far, and I have many people to thank for encouraging and supporting its growth.
Needle felting is an uncommon art form in the U.S. You might never have heard of it before! It is the (time-consuming!) process of sculpting wool with special needles. These needles have tiny barbs on the tip, and when stuck through a piece of raw, coarse wool, the fibers of the wool catch on the needle's barbs. The wool's fibers are pulled and tangled together more and more with each stab of the needle. This gives the wool shape, and allows it to be gradually sculpted into—well, pretty much anything! Visit the Gallery if you'd like to see my past creations!
